I'm really excited to kickoff A Styled Affair's Fitness Series with Equinox! While many of us have ambitious fitness goals as part of our New Year's resolutions, it's tough to stay focused as life gets busy and the beginning of the year fades into the background. I wanted to hold myself accountable this year by joining a gym that would make me want to show up every day (or at least a few times week!) and Equinox Seaport fit the bill. Their extensive class schedule, awesome trainers, and gorgeous views of the city, make this my new favorite place to get in shape.
Everyone has different fitness goals. Some of us want to tone up, some of us want to lose weight, and some of us just enjoy working out. When I sat down with my personal trainer, Niles Sturtevant, to discuss my goals, we talked through some of my struggles with gaining lean muscle, finding time to workout, and staying on a consistent meal plan. I love cardio (spin, running, etc.) but never really focused on lifting, mostly because it can be intimidating if you don't know what you're doing. This year, I want to aim to have a more balanced wellness plan that has me feeling stronger and healthier. So, after discussing some of my other pain points, we settled on a plan of at least one training session per week alongside my classes and individual workouts to target these areas of improved wellness:
- Increase lean muscle mass
- Target a more well-rounded diet
- Balance workouts to include strength and conditioning
In this series, I hope to share my progress, favorite exercises, and of course outfits and accessories that keep me motivated and feeling my best.
