When Greg and I moved to the Seaport four years ago, there was hardly any retail (really no retail unless you count a florist and hotel gift shop). Fast forward, we are now surrounded by tons of restaurants, bars, and shops. It seems something new is opening every week! One of my favorite, newer additions to the neighborhood, is The Current; a row of pop-ups in ‘tiny homes’ that give a brick and mortar space to an ever-evolving lineup of brands and businesses. I can’t tell you how great it is to be able to pop over to The Current when I need a gift or a little shopping spree for myself. While online shopping is taking over, there isn’t anything quite like seeing products in person before buying. Especially when it’s a quick walk to do so.
This week I spent some time getting some holiday shopping done and wanted to share my favorite picks at different price points from each shop at The Current. The shops are located along Seaport Boulevard and are open Monday - Saturday: 11:00am-7:00pm and Sunday: 12:00pm-6:00pm. This line-up of shops will be here until the end of the year so make sure to stop by before the next wave of brands come in!
Olivela
‘Luxury shopping with a purpose’ Olivela brings meaning behind your investment pieces. Shop your favorite designer fashion and beauty brands and Olivela will give 20% of the proceeds of anything you purchase directly to one of their partner children’s charities. Some of my favorite gift items by price point vary from dainty initial bracelets to luxe investment pieces. Why not give back while buying the items you’ve been coveting any way?
$$$ Dior Rain Boots
$$ Jonathan Adler Vodka Rocket Decanter
$ Jenny Bird Modernist Monogram Initial Bracelet
As a new Mom and someone who loves to stay active, I am usually in some form of athleisure during the week so I was happy to see some of my favorite brands like Cotton Citizen, PE Nation, and Moose Knuckles at Legit Activewear. They have curated a collection of their outerwear and must-have accessories for their pop-up at The Current. Below are my top picks!
$$$ Moose Knuckles Avonhurst Pullover
$$ PE Nation Downclimb Sweat and Joggers
$ Vee Collective Small Tote - Black Splatter
Custom 14k gold jewelry in 15-40 minutes. Is there a better gift? Atelier Paulin specializes in custom creations made from a single precious metal wire shaped into a name, a date, or a word of special meaning. From earrings, rings, bracelets, and necklaces, I chose these gold hoops with my name in one of the hoops to make the pair a little more unique. They also have a preview of their ‘Capital Collection’ in store that is made from 18k gold and sent out to their shop in Paris for customization. Anything from this pop-up would be the perfect gift!
$$$ Fine Jewelry 18k Gold ‘Capital’ Collection
$$ Original Customized Hoop
This “Decadent Farmstand” set-up by DADA Daily, brings together art and food in a visually inspiring space. When you think of naturally vegan, gluten, and dairy-free, you don’t immediately think of taste but their Crunchy Sweet Potato Aioli Curls, Cheesy Cauliflower Popcorn Florets, and Crispy Almond Butter Brussels Sprouts are amazing. The items below would make great gifts for in-laws, coworkers, or neighbors!
$ Savory Stocking Stuffer Trio
$$ Holiday Assorted Truffle Tower
Having already shopped at Le Creuset, it was easy to pick out my favorites. Great cookware is always a good investment but not always at the top of everyone’s minds to buy for themselves. Their stoneware and cast iron cookware are built to last but also pretty to look at. The products below come in fun colors and would make great gifts for anyone on your list.
$$ Signature Skillet
$$ French Press
$ Coffee mug
Sh*t that I Knit has been a long-time local favorite. They have items for men, women, and children, including beanies, mittens, ponchos, and wraps. I loved the matching set of beanies for Callahan and I and also love that you can customize them with different pom poms at their Beanie Bar.
$$ Poncho
$$ Beanie with matching toddler hat
Greg has been a fan of Ace and Everett for a long time so was happy to see them make an appearance at The Current. They have a great selection of fun colors and basics for every day wear in both their Cotton and Wool fabrics. For Dads, brothers, boyfriends, husbands, these make great stocking stuffers!
$$ Standard 3-Pack Wool Socks
$ Berenson Tunisian Navy Cotton Socks
A local and now global favorite, Booty by Brabants is loved by everyone with their one-size-fits-most leggings. Their amazing selection of colors and workout sets make the perfect gift for fitness lovers or those that love lounging in leggings.
$$ Croco Skin Leggings in Black with Croco Skin Deep V in Black
$ Croco Skin Leggings in Dulce de Leche
Clean beauty is quickly taking over the cosmetics industry so having a clean beauty line like The Beautycounter in the neighborhood is a great addition. While makeup is hard to pick out for someone, below are a few staples from the brand that are a safe bet for anyone on your list.
$$ Essential Brush Set
$ Body Butter Trio
